Jaw Procedures

The face bone structure and especially the upper jaw (maxilla) and the lower jaw (mandible) can be in an abnormal or unnatural relation to each other due to developmental or traumatic reasons. After the orthodontic evaluation and some radiographic studies, an orthodontic treatment plan and/or surgery can be planned to correct overbite, under bite problems, and jaw shortening or enlargement procedures.   

These procedures with dramatic outcomes are also able to correct some teeth compilation problems. There are various techniques in jaw surgery. In some of these interventions the upper and lower jaw has to be fixed to each other for a certain time and the patient can only be fed with liquid nutrients.
